Why did you chose AS Media Studies?
I picked AS Media studies because I really enjoy the subject, in my school we done the GCSE course in year 9. I learnt a lot of different interesting things and how the Media has such a big impact on certain peoples lifestyles and the way they live. Also I have future plans of becoming a Journalist so therefore it is vital for me to continue Media studies at a-level alongside English Literature.
I believe Media is an amazing subject, and has many career opportunities for people who have creative instincts. I believe I am a creative student mostly depending on what the work is, I generally like to think outside the box and look at things in a bigger picture, because not everything is the way it looks. In my previous school I was told I should continue Media at AS by my Media teacher as she thought I was into the subject as I showed my enthusiasm within my class, which made my more keen on doing this subject. In my previous school I wasn't in with a chance to do filming, making adverts and websites as we were young and therefore didn't have the opportunity to do it at GCSE level. Furthermore I enjoy making magazines and leaflets and in Media you can do that. I enjoy analysing of texts, adverts, pictures and videos as it gets me more familiar with my work and I understand it better by breaking things down. Media is a subject which you have to put your full on effort into and I know I will be putting in full on effort, I'm determine to work hard.
The media has it's good and bad sides, I would like to know more about why some people lie and what's the point in hiding things. The Media can be biased at times to certain individuals or groups of people. There are different types of Media's which focus on different things.Media also has a lot of money available depending on what side you go onto.
As I wish to become a journalist, I am aware they have strong influences on the profession. The Media is universal as you can interact with anyone around the world, within Media people have to listen and see and therefore this forces them to reflect on a message. Moreover in Media there are hidden messages within videos, images and sound, which extends the ability of people to comprehend information, as well as includes those people who can't see or hear, which would be an advantage for these people, whereas books you have to read them only if you have the ability to read. The Media is attractive, not only due to the fact that it increases you attention and motivation to explore issues more, but also Media attracts views of millions of people around the world. Some Media products can change the world, and by doing Media I may be able to make some changes which could be motivational for the younger generation.
The whole world is involved with the Media pretty much, we all know some facts about the Media, we are all involved into interaction with the information it contains, within Media you are able to comprehend and influence the younger generation and older. The Media to me is very important as a source of information about our own community and people around the world. Without the Media existing we wouldn't know what's happening around the world.
Moreover by the end of this year I would like to gain more knowledge about the Media system. I would also like to achieve a grade B or above for all my work, which includes coursework, exams and all the practical work we do. By the end of the two year Media studies course I would like a B or above, this is because I want to achieve better than what I got at GCSE level or even same.
