What do you think of our idea?

Our Idea is as it’s only a 2 Minute opening we were thinking of having a suspense type of title-sequence and then showing a similar theme throughout, having a girl running in a building she’s afraid of her past coming back in her life. This is shown in her body language and facial expressions effectively, creating suspense for the audience continuously. Our locations would be very effective, as having west fields as the background scenery this would engage with our audience we feel. Then we have a train scene, were the girl goes back and looks for the past but audience are unable to identify the person, there not aware of who he is, why he’s there and what he wants. And we leave it as that, only having 2-minute opening sequence

Good/Bad

If bad how could we improve on our idea to allow the audience to engage with it?

What we are trying to look for

We need this in order to find out what our target audience want, we will focus group them and give out these interview questions. We have given out to a few students to complete and these are the questions we are trying to find the answer for which could help us in our teen drama production as by knowing what our target audience want it will help us take that into consideration and put those thoughts into ours making sure the audience feel engaged when watching it. We have given a few open and closed questions so we can clearly see what the audience want. We have also asked them about what type of genre they would prefere so we could make this similar to ours. At the end of the questionnaire we have also given a brief paragraph of what our idea is to the target audience and are asking them what they think about it and what we can do to improve it.

Ill Manors

What are the typical codes and conventions of film trailers - what information is usually provided?

The typical codes and conventions of film trailers are that it promotes and introduces the film, the trailers have a minimum time of 2/3 minutes, which they have to provide enough information for the audience wanting to watch the actual film, trailers normally introduce the narrative, genre, setting, names of directors  the companies which have funded the film and also the characters staring within the film, this lead to the audience being able to have certain expectations and ideas about the film. The film include names of directors would attract the audience, as they may have seen a film produced by that director thus meaning they would want to watch this as well. The ill manors trailer provides quotes which help the audience understand what the film is about and what it may consist of. At the end of the trailer the date is put on the left of the screen for 3/4 seconds, which would catch the readers attention and this informs then when the film will be out. The trailer includes lines that will be in the film, and this would attract the audience as they would want to know what happens next as not all of the lines are given away, this creates a confusion, as the lines aren't finished, and them wanting to know what has been said they will need to watch the film. Within the trailer they provide their website name which would attract the audience, as by this they would be able to go on it to find out more information, any social networking sites they belong to, so we are able to see what they are funded by, this gives the viewers extra information, this information is at the end, as it would stay in the audiences head and they can research more information from there website.

How are trailers distributed?
The distributor for Ill Manors was Revolver Entertainment, they had worked with successful British films in the past in order to help them gain a reputation within the area, as they had helped Kidulthood and Adulthood be a well-known film even though it was a low budget film like Ill Manors, this means this distributor could help the film be successful, as Kidulthood and Adulthood have the same genre as Ill Manors it would be easy for the distributor to help it be successful, they all are within the genre urban teen drama, which is popular amongst the teenagers. The director of Ill Manors was a famous play-write and singer Plan B, he had worked with Revolver Entertainment before whilst shooting Adulthood, so their relationship would have consisted of the same amount of work, and they were aware of how they all were and how much they could do. Trailers are shown at the start of films at the cinemas, in order to the audiences to get a rough idea of what to expect, however many people don't wish to see this as they have seen it already or they just want to get to watch the film, as trailer can be seen as a waste of time, also people tend to miss trailer as they have arrived late. Trailers are mostly published on Youtube or even the cinema listing shows, this is a good way in order to attract the audience, as the target audience are teenagers and they are mostly on the internet and youtube searching for new film trailer, also most teenagers go on the cinema listing and view trailers as they want to confirm timings of the show and see which best suits them and then they are able to view trailers of films that attract them. Youtube is a good way for the audience to view trailers as it says how many views the video has received showing how many people are interested in it.
How does Ill Manors use trailer conventions?
Ill Manors uses convention to be effective during the trailer, as it shows the film name and this is important for the audience to then be aware of what the film is called and they can do there own research to find out more information on the film. The trailer used mise-en-scene, such as the hoodies, this gives the audience a stereotypical view of the teenage boys being bad boys, and that is what has been portrayed, this is a dominant representation of the teenagers. The name of the film should be shown and is quite important as it makes the audience aware of what the film is called making them research it. The typography 'Ill Manors' is in a bold and hard hitting font which reflects the nature and genre of the film. The title of the film is shown at the end of the trailer. This is effective as it will keep the audience engaged and hooked with all the crazy events being shown. Additionally, important information such as the realise date is also shown at the very end and this would make the audience aware of when the film will be coming out in cinemas making them feel more excited. Additionally  the director's/producer's name is stated in the middle of the trailer "From Visionary artist Plan B" which clearly states that Plan B produced this film. This is effective, in making the audience aware who the director of the film is and also if people are fans of his music they are most likely to view the film. Furthermore, montage editing is used throughout this trailer which shows it is a non-linear narrative in terms of the shots and fast pace meaning, it doesn't follow the structure of Todorov's theory. It is also a multi-strand narrative as there is more than one narrative, which would engage the audience whom are youth.

Who is the target audience?
The target audience for this film would be 18-40 year old, however; due to the violence which this film consists of, it was giving an 18+ rating, as some scenes are inappropriate for a younger audience to see. This would be targeted at men and women as a women is the main character, and the story line revolves around her, it allows the women to see how other women are treated in a bad manor, even though they haven't done anything to go through that phrase. This would attract men due to the amount of violence going on. The audience would be grouped in D/E as it shows the unemployed students within the film and how much stuff they go through. However, it could fall into group A/B as it may interest people as such to know what others go through, and also they could see the struggle and if they went through things as such they could look back and refer to the old them and see a change within them.

Media forms analysis

Group progress.

We have been working on our story boards as a group, everyone gave their ideas and what they think will work well and we all thought about how we could adapt on our ideas, we came up with several ideas, and then we came to a final decisions which we might take into consideration whilst producing our production work. This was taken on our third meeting together as a group which was 17/12/12, and we've developed our ideas as a group from the first stage, as we changed our ideas and have moved onto the next stage which was planning our idea and scripting it and doing a storyboard based on that, we have come up with a script and storyline which we are going to use, and the storyboard which allows us to add onto our ideas and expand on it within the cinematography aspect.

Here is the work we produced as a group, everyone's ideas as a group were taken into consideration in order to build onto our production work, this is our draft storyboard, this will help us with the cinematography work, as we can see what types of shots we want to include and we are able to see the timings it may take to shoot, as we have a time limit we don't want to exceed it, so we need to make sure we are below the time and this roughly gives us an idea of where we are at, this is useful for us as a group as whilst shooting we can look back at this and see what we planned and how we have changed our ideas.

BBC 3

BBC Three was launched by Stuart Murphy, who previously ran BBC Choice, and before that UK Play, the now-discontinued UK TV music and comedy channel. At 33, Murphy was the youngest channel controller in the country.

BBC Three is a television network from the BBC broadcasting via digital cable, terrestrial, IPTV and satellite platforms. The channels target audience includes those in 16-34 year old age group, and has the prupose of providing innovative content to younger audiences, by focusing on new talent and new technologies. The channel is on-air from 19:00 to around 05:00 each night.

Targeting an audience of 16-34 year olds, BBC three has to compete with there rivals in order such as ITV2 and E4, for an audience that the BBC has traditionally had difficulty in attracting. On average nine million people watch BBC Three every week.

BBC Three's programming consists of comedy, drama, spin-off series and repeated episodes of series from BBC One and Two, which would attract many audiences as they may have missed out a show and want to catch up upon it later during the day and other programmes that attempt to alert others of their actions through a series of programmes challenging common beliefs.

Pre-watershed shows are held before 9pm, which are shows which have no swearing, nudity and this would be beneficial for the young viewers. Moreover, BBC 3 has films going on from 7 on some days, as this would attract many viewers, these are held on the weekends and fridays mostly, however the weekdays shows are on such as:
  • 19.00 - Snog, marry or avoid
  • 20.00 - Don't tell the bride
However, these shows change everyday, there isn't a fixed timing for some of these shows as on some days snog marry or avoid is shown at 21.00, which indicates there is no fixed timing, suggesting audiences won't be aware of what time to expect a programme to be on, however this could also be a positive outcome as young audiences flick through the channels and don't usually stick to one, also having films shown on some days would attract them even more, especially on the weekend as that is when they want to relax.

BBC three had 368,000 viewers on a documentary without being ratings dynamite - but the big audiences went to shows you could already have seen elsewhere - EastEnders, Doctor Who and Little Britain, with 502,000, 380,000 and 252,000 viewers respectively.

BBC three has many different shows at different timings, there are suitable shows that we could look at for our teen drama, which are pre-watershed as we could get information and new techniques which may help us with our drama, also the target audience for bbc three ranges from 16-34 years, but we need to aim ours at young teenagers, so we could research more about the young teenager shows in order to help us.

Research.

11/12/12 - my task is to take pictures of some locations and say why I have taken them and how they will contribute towards our production and research the BBC Three institution, and find out information about it.

I have taken two pictures which show similar locations and different times, this can help me and my group as we can see which time we prefer to shoot at. The time is vital to know as time changes over the course of a day, as we could shoot within the morning or when the sunset comes out, these little key things would make a big difference to our production work.
I took this picture, as we could use a location similar to this as it is very attractive, the sunset is about to come out and this would keep the audience engaged due to the colours. The low-key lighting within this picture creates shadows, the natural lighting of the sun stands out which connotes this scene may be powerful. Moreover, the sun has a shine to it which indicates this could be a love scene, where a couple may be, as stereotypically a couple would be in an area similar to this. Also, this would be beneficial to us as we could go here to shoot some of our drama, if we are doing a teen romantic drama.

This could be another one of our locations in which we decide to shoot in, as this is a very sweet scene, we could use this within our trailer as a couple are walking down here and talking, this would engage the audience due to the beautiful scenery and the background, the atmosphere of this would suit a romantic drama, so this could be used if we want to show some romance between someone, or even this could be somewhere someone has a dream about someone else, due to it suiting the scene.

  • How does the trailer for Ill Manors hook audiences into the narrative and pose questions that the film will answer? Identify 3 ways/techniques.
  • The trailer for Ill Manors hooks the audience in many ways, such as the trailer begins to hook the audience through the trailer as you get a understanding of who the main actors are. The trailer shows the different characters, but not the main actor. The camera shots grab the audiences attention as, the close-up's allow us to see their facial expressions clearly so we are able to feel their emotions and what they are feeling, as if we are in their feet. The trailer doesn't give away the story-line, as there are many things which occur within the trailer so we aren't aware of what the main storyline is. There is a lot of fast music within the whole trailer, this suggests the movie is going to have a fast pace throughout, the music helps to create tension and enigma for the audience.

  • How does the trailer for Ill Manors balance plot and spectacle?
  • The trailer for Ill Manors shows different characters as well as different scenes, which is effective as it represents the different story lines which may be told within the film. The effectual non-digetic music to gain the target audience.

  • Think about the certificate of Ill Manors (18 certificate). Research film certification and outline what is deemed acceptable for this certificate. What is the difference between a 15 certificate and an 18 certificate?
  • A 15 certificate includes strong language, a lot of scene including of violence, strong indications of sexual content as well as sexual scenes, discrimination, regular use of drugs and nudity. A 18 certificate however is similar but with more of certain specific topics. It includes  extreme strong language and regularity of swear words. A vast use of sexual language as well as sexual intercourse,  blood and gore and much references to discriminatory language and ethnicities. That's why it's 18 as it's for a maturer audience that expect to view such things, and would therefore be unlikely to take offence as they themselves are watching it.

    Progress report

11/12/12 - my task is to take pictures of some locations and say why I have taken them and how they will contribute towards our production and research the BBC Three institution, and find out information about it.

My task was to research about the BBC institution and from this I have gained a lot of knowledge about the socio demographics of the audience BBC three fit's into, this allowed me to find out information and inform my group about so as we need to know about a range of institutions before moving on, as we need to see what our target audience are watching on channels such as BBC three, E4, E entertainment and Channel 4. As by this we are able to gain ideas for our Drama, as we are able to see what shows are on before 9 which are pre-watershed. Also I have taken pictures to show different locations, and this is beneficial as we are able to see what location would suit our teen drama, and we can see different views and can decide what time of the day we want to shoot our performance.

17/12/12 - My task this week is to do a focus group interview to find out what teenagers think about our teen drama, and they will need to give some ideas on how they think we can improve on our teen drama.  I will continue to take pictures of locations or anything interesting which could help us with our teen drama.

Our task as a group was to do a focus group in order to find out what the students think about our idea, and see what they are interested in, as we need to take into consideration their ideas as they are our target audience, and they could offer new ideas which we as a group may not have thought about, thus meaning our idea could be adapted on. This will help us gain a lot of information, on our target audience which is key.

28/12/12 - My task to find out information about OFCOM, and to find out information about the content, so what can and can't be shown within our production work.

Our group got together at Dupinders house, we all worked together on our ppt presentation and rehearsed how we will present it, we also made a little video clip for the class to watch, in order for them to get a rough idea what we are going for, and also the we tried showing different camera angles, in order to engage the audience and we tried covering up the cinematography. We also spoke about the type of music we would prefer to suit our production, and the title sequence. We all took into consideration what we found out from our questionnaires.

    POTENTIAL IDEAS

    Potential Programmes

    Teen Comedy
Comedy is a genre which the main emphasise on humour. Films in this time usually have a happy ending. Comedy focuses on the characters, as they are expecting to be entertained thoroughly through the beginning till the end. Teen comedy consist of light hearted stories with intentions to amuse, political or social commentary.
    Teen comedy consists of;
    •          Coming of age
    •          Rebellion
    •          First Loves
    •          Conflict with parents or teachers
    •          Teen angst
    •          Alienation

    Examples could include;

    •          Setting the film in a school to relate to teenagers. Using stereotypical characters such as geeks, misbehaving students
    •          Use everyday situations, arguing with teachers and answering back in a funny way 'Joker of the class'
    •          Try to appeal to the teenagers. Example voice over could be use when a teen is thinking about something as this could be an element in where the audience engages
    •          Crazy funny romance involved of how stereotypically boys treats girls.
We could include gender conventions like Shakespearian times, when a man dresses up as a
women and then acts like a man, which confuses the audience but also makes them laugh due
to the character looking funny, also we could also make the actors portray buffoonery behaviour,
by tripping over items or wearing larger clothing than they should or smaller.
Can introduce different types of characters through their personalities for example; if a girl is
running away from a theft she's done there would be a low-angle of her legs as we can instantly
see the style of clothing she's wearing, how fast she's running etc.

    Teen family

    •       Bright colours, key lighting, filter lighting
    • ·         Costume, bright colours
    •        Binary opposition of colours between rich and poor
    •          Introduction of all characters, showing what they are symbolic to.
Family film is a genre that is contains appropriate content for younger viewers.
Family film aims to appeal not only to children, but to a wide range of ages. While the story line may appeal to a younger audience, there are components of the film that are geared towards adults- such as witty jokes and humor. This genre may fall into many other genres, including comedy, adventure, fantasy, and animated film. This includes dramas such as Britain's got talent which is suitable for young kids to watch and family’s.

It is drama that is designed to appeal to a variety of age groups and, thus, families. Family films generally do not contain content that would be deemed unsuitable for children. As a group we will be using good costume which Is bright colors as it would attract children to watch it. It will also contain binary opposition of colour between the rich and the poor showing different societies and the contrast between them. Firstly we will introduce all the characters in a way which keeps the audience engaged and entertained and showing what the characters are symbolic to.

There are also many different films that are family genres such as home alone, ice age, hotel of dogs etc. We will be watching these films and getting different ideas to include in our production. As it consists of different locations, and what is suitable for the family in a whole which excludes swearing and just fit for the family members to view.

    Action
    •          Dark lighting
    •          Fast lighting movement
    •          Showing the characters
Action film is a genre where one or more heroes is thrust into a series of challenges which
require physically movement. The narrative and character development depend on the
explosions, fist fights, gun play and car chases

The action genre is popular amongst men as they include many stunts, weapons and this
keeps the audience engaged as they have something to look at, these are things that need
to be noticed. The Action of the film is what you see and remember about a movie, it
dramatizes the whole film, the action could change everything, so if it is a happy romantic
love scene and someone comes in with a gun, action would occur and it would change the
whole mood and atmosphere of the movie.
This genre would be for men aged 16+ this is because this is the age when men are a bit
more mature and they understand violence isn't the way forward, so they won't try it
themselves, as there brains have developed.

There are many different types of Action genres such as The dark knight rises,
Transformers, The terminator, The matrix and so on these movies will help us get an idea of
what type of programme we wish to produce. However, as it is a before for an E4 before 9
programme we have to be careful of what we produce if there is any action in it, as gun play
wouldn't be appropriate for this, as sometimes it could lead to swearing and that wouldn't fit
    in with our production work.

    Horror
    •        Dark low key light to create shadows
    •      Dark colours
    •     Introduce characters in the first episode
    •      180 degree shot
    •       Survivors
    •        Explorer’s
    • Horror is a film genre that many audiences love and hate. The genre aims to scare the audience through violence and gore. Iconography is a big part of horror films and any other genres of film.
    • Examples of horror films would be Psycho, Paranormal activity, Halloween, The exorcist.
    • Horror films contain a lot of low key lighting, which creates shadows and there is an emphasis on the building up of tension and suspense.
    Thriller
    •      Colourful colours to show the characters
    •      Introduction of the characters
    •       Areas of low-key lighting to show intense and get the audience engaged
    •        Use medium sense of thrills
    •       More action work, to show the genre more effective
    •       Cinematography used

MEST2 - Creating Media: Research and Planning

    WATERLOO ROAD

The editing is faded of the kids playing around, which encourage the audience to watch it, this creates a lot of enigma (Barthes) for the audience, as they would wonder why they are all running around like that. The music in the background is non-diegetic and contrapuntal, and it has a loud bass, it doesn't suit the scene as it is set in a school. Moreover, there are some parallel sounds being used such as a the smashing of the window, this creates enigma for the audience, as it is right at the start they wonder why is that kid doing that. That scene cuts straight after him walking a few steps into the playground full of children in uniform talking and making noise.

There is a high angel shot of the school, suggesting it isn't as powerful. The camera is elevated above the action which is happening below using a crane to give the general overview of the school buildings and the pupils. Moreover, there is also a medium shot of the 3 girls dancing which allows the audience to see their body language, facial expressions and movements very clearly. Straight after there is a hand-held camera movement towards a guy, whom looks very suspicious and this is connoted by his facial expressions and his movements connote there is something up. There is a tracking shot of the guy whilst he is walking towards another group of people, which allow us to see his movements thus allowing us to feel what he is feeling, which creates more of a connection. Moreover, there is a long shot of two men smoking, this allows us to see their body language very clearly, they are standing stiff straight suggesting they have no worries. The binary opposition between the school children dressed in their uniform and the men is very clear, it shows us the difference between them, also the stereotypes of teachers being role models is broken, as they are smoking in front of the children thus showing a bad side to them suggesting kids aren't the bad ones.

Furthermore, there is a tilt shot of when the headmaster is throwing down paper, the camera slowly moves up on the tripod to show the paper, we can see the headmasters facial expressions from far, him throwing down the paper so fast indicates how impatient he is and he is letting out his anger. Moreover, there is a shot/reverse/shot of the headmaster throwing paper to the guys whom were smoking, this is effective as we get to see the persons facial expressions again.

The lighting used throughout the video is natural lighting, from the outside, this allows the video to be more realistic and allows the audience to imagine it is happening now. This allows students and teachers to be seen in both positive and negative ways as they are all seen within the same frame due to the lighting. Moreover, the lighting is natural as it is outside it would be harder to make it low-key but scenes set inside could be either low-keyed or high-keyed depending on the situation of the episode. The lighting has a big role within the realistic, the lighting being natural allows us to see the students and teachers facial expressions clearly, however if there was a suspense scene there should be use of low-key lighting due to it creating more tension for the audience and making them wonder, also this would create enigma for them. It is vital for directors to take into consideration, that the characters body language and facial expressions should be clear, and this could be adjusted depending on the type of lighting being used.

This is targeted to 14-18 year olds due to it being set in school and it shows the different ways the school is being represented, and that is the age group whom is in high school and it would be girls and boys due to the behaviour of the programme as it shows boys in different ways as well as girls. The ideology of this programme shows how teenagers are shown within society, this programme represents them in that way.

    NEW GIRL

The clip starts of with a girl talking to the camera, which creates enigma for the audience as we wonder why she is doing that, her eyes are wide open which makes her speech more effective, and also she is talking about someone else, whom we aren't aware of. The close-up of the girl allows the audience to see her facial expressions very clearly and this connotes what kind of person she is, also her speech suggests she is a gossip girl. Slowly, the camera goes backwards which could be a connotation of her losing power over it, also as it goes back we are then able to see the movement of her hands.

Moreover, then there is a straight cut shot, but her vocal expression is still in the background explaining what is happening, then there is a her coming back in a different role which is a flashback acting out what she had just said. There is a close-up of her face as she walks in and this allows the audience to see her facial expressions, and she looks a bit suspicious and looks like she's up to something, then there is a tracking shot of her walking into the room with a medium shot of her back, which is like the audience following her. Furthermore, there is a low-angle shot of a character's legs fetish as we are encouraged to see it, suddenly her clothes are all off and she is jumping around with a pillow, and behind is a man with no clothes on suggesting something may occur between them two.

The sound is digetic and parallel in the beginning as the she is talking, but then there is some background music which is non-diegetic as the tambourines however, this fits in with the scene as it is sound the audience would imagine to hear, thus it is parallel. Moreover, the lighting used within this is natural lighting and there are some aspects of low-key lighting creating shadows and making the scene more intense which also makes it look more effectual and brings a sense of mystery towards the audience and characters. Moreover the editing being used are a few straight cuts, which gets straight to the point and it doesn't include any unnecessary points.

This would be targeted to females around 16-20, as the show includes many flashbacks and at this age you are likely to have flashbacks and also it shows different ways in which teenagers act.

    PRETTY LITTLE LIARS

In the first scene their is a medium-shot taking place whilst the women are conversing, this is suitable as we can see the body- language and facial expressions of the diverse women and their way of reaction. The clothing they are wearing connote what kind of characters they may be, it brings out their personality and makes them unique in there own way. They both are dressed fairly smart. There is a shot/reverse/shot of the lady walking towards the coffin, we are able to see she may have a connection with that, as it could be someone related to her. Her facial expressions drop as she walks closer to the coffin which creates enigma, suspense and tension for the audience, as first she was fine talking to the lady, this suggests she had a close relationship with the person whom has passed away. There is a close-up of the girls whilst they are sitting down, which allows us to see their facial expressions clearly and by this we are able to see what they may be feeling as it shows their emotions. There is a pan shot of all the girls whom are sitting in a row, which allow us to see all their facial expressions and see how it changes as they are talking.

The setting of the scene is in a church suggesting peace and safety, there is a close-up shot of the lady's hand and the other lady touching it which engages the audience as it is very close and it could create enigma as we don't see her face so we don't know who's holding her hand. The use of sound building up emphasises on the event occurring. The sound is parallel sound as it blends in with the scene, as it is set in a church and it is peaceful music then it gets intense as soon as someone enters this could be due to some past events that had occurred between them and the sounds emphasises on that, this keeps the audience engaged as it is in a church and it is sweet. It is diegetic sound as it is in line with the story line, this is the type of music the audience would expect to here within an event like this occurring. Furthermore, the dialogue is diegetic and the parallel music within the background doesn't go over it which allows the audience to hear both the dialogue and the music, which helps make the atmosphere.

The lighting in this clip is low-key lighting as their are shadows being created. Moreover, the lighting fits in with the atmosphere and the event, as it is a funeral. There is a chiaroscuro effect, it uses one key light which keeps the audience engaged as they want to know what will happen next, and the lighting helps create the effects. The editing being used within this programme are a few straight cuts used within this sequence, and this allows the audience to get to the point, and it allows to cut unnecessary parts out.

This programme is aimed at teenager girls aged 14-17 as this programme contains a lot of problems teenagers go through, this would allow the teenage girls to relate to them and also see how they deal with the problems and find solutions to help them, and this is the age group which falls in love and deals with boyfriend problems and within this programme there is a lot of that and the teenage girls will be able to learn more on how to deal with these problems.

    90210

It starts with a recap of the previous show which allows the audience to remember what happened before. There is an establishing shot of the location and this is effective as we are able to see everything within the view. There is a long shot of the couple kissing, we are able to see their body language and movements whilst kissing. Moreover, then there is a medium shot of them expressing their love to one another, which emphasises on their relationship being very calm and relaxed, it shows they have trust. Furthermore, there is a medium shot of the women which suggests she was daydreaming about what she wishes happens. There is a pan shot from left to right depicting the excitement, which then goes onto a tracking shot of the children coming out of lessons.
Moreover, the use of handheld camera is effective as it shows the excitement the children have due to them finishing school. The camera zooms out from a building and then zoom's in to another building which doesn't usually work right but this was effective and worked well, as it looked as if they were travelling. There are a few edits used within this programme, such as the basic straight cuts There are lots of shots, quickly moving by which keeps the audience engaged as they would want to see every shot clearly so they mustn't move there eye in order to see everything.

The sound is digetic and parallel to the surroundings, as it is a romance scene and there is peaceful love music playing along with it. Moreover, within the school the students are firstly quiet as soon as the bell rings the sound of the students coming out from school is gradually gets louder and louder which connotes and emphasis on their happiness of being free from school which is what the audience would expect due to it being a school and them being excited to leave school and go home to relax.

The lighting is low-key lighting being it an intense romantic scene creating shadows and having filter light is effective as it brings out the feelings. There is some use of key-lighting and this is useful as helps bring out the positive attitude and emphasises on the atmosphere.
It's good there is no  low-key lighting as it wouldn't match the sense as it is a romantic scene.

This would appeal to teenage girls and boys aged 14-18, as they could be able to relate to the characters within this programme, as there are a variety of different types of actors.

    FRIENDS

In this scene, you are only able to see one of the characters conversing to another, but you are able to hear the other ones vocal expressions, which creates enigma for the audience as in we wonder who is talking and why aren't we able to see them, then we begin to picture them depending on the voice tone. Furthermore, we see a long-shot of the character when she enters, this allows us to see her body language, and her movement as well as some of her facial expressions but not clearly as the point of a long shot is to see the persons body movements and gestures, however the audience are still in enigma as she is in such as rush with her suitcase packed and she's going to London but we aren't aware why. There is a medium shot to a long shot of the characters alongside a shot/reverse/shot we are able to see both of the characters body languages and facial expressions because of this. There is an over the shoulder shot which allows us to see things from the characters point of view, and this is a way of keeping the audience engaged as they will be able to see things from the characters point of view, this is in form of a medium shot

The editing used is very fast and there are fast cuts which work well with the sequence, as we are able to see whom is talking, the cuts are able to cut out unnecessary parts within the sequence of the programme, and it gets to the point which will keep the audience engaged into watching the programme. There is not much sound used within this programme, but there is a non-digetic sound track of audience laughing, we are able to tell it has been recorded and put in, however that is parallel as it is put into parts which are meant to be funny.

The lighting is key-lighting as it is very bright and this allows to bring out the characters facial expressions more clearly, this allows us to see their movements more clearly as well due to it being bright. Moreover, it fits in with the genre as it is an comedy show, low-key lighting wouldn't work for this as comedy is seen to be bright, and shadows are created within horror films or intense moments.

This would appeal to teenagers as they would want to have a laugh, it would also appeal to young adults as the stars are young adults, moreover due to the characters having a sense of humour it appeals to teenagers and also it shows their dopey personalities.

    IDEAS!
If it is a reality teen programme then we will make sure everything is possible to be seen such as the actions of the actions - movement, body language and facial expressions as these are the main things which attract the audience, this will be done by the lighting, this will play a big role within the type of programme we wish to produce, however we if we want it to be more realistic we need to make sure we don't break any rules such as the 180 degrees rule, as if that is broken the programme may not be as realistic as it could be. However if we do break this, it would be to create confusion for the audience. We need to include cut shots to get to the point, and also we could include some fade shots. Moreover, if we do a fictional-programme we would use a lot of low-key lighting as it would create more of an effect and there would be a lot of shadows. It would make the characters stand out, it would engage more of the audience. I would use a lot of shot/reverse/shots to show the characters facial expressions, also the editing would include a lot of cuts, we need to show a binary opposition between two different things to show the contrast.

Furthermore, we need to have a lot of different locations to act out our scenes in, we need a lot of cut shots to emphasis on the important parts,  as we need to keep the audience engaged. We don't need to confuse the audience, so we shouldn't break the 180 degree rule, as we want to create a sense of realism. Also, we need to make it clear when the scene has ended as we don't want to confuse the audience, also we need to make sure we record a few seconds later and stay in role at all times because when editing we are able to cut out parts, whereas if we shoot less then it could ruin our production work. Moreover, we need to use different shots such as low-angle shots to show power of a character if needed so, or else a high-angle shot to show how powerless they are. The sound is as important as we need to decide whether we want it to be parallel to the narrative or contrapuntal as we need to show an effect, also whether it is digetic of non-digetic. We must use a tripod to create a steady effect and to avoid shaky effects, however if we wish to create this shaky effect we should do hand held camera effect, this could be used to create tension and to build on the intenseness of the situation.
